Peter Cuffley
For many years well-known author and social historian Peter Cuffley has been fascinated by the story of his great great grandparents Thomas and Margaret Sweeney. Since 1973, he has had fifteen books published on many subjects, but has always returned to one incomplete project - the history of the Sweeney family of Eltham and their descendants in Australia and New Zealand. The hopes of a detailed book on the subject have now been realised with the 162 page publication THE SWEENEY FAMILY OF 'CULLA HILL' ELTHAM. Well illustrated with historic images and family photos, many unseen until now, Peter weaves a fascinating story of overcoming adversity and building new lives.
Tim Erickson
Tim is also a great great grandson of Thomas and Margaret Sweeney and was brought up in Eltham, only a stone's throw from Culla Hill. Immersed in family history from an early age, he has long been fascinated by the stories of Old Eltham, the Sweeneys and Carrucans and Culla Hill.He was part of the team which published Dirt Poor, Spirit Rich (the story of the Carrucans of Eltham) in 2011, and has collaborated with Peter on his laest book The Sweeney Family of 'Culla Hill' Eltham, handling book formatting and publication for Peter.
